Background
Will dissent be suppressed on Pennsylvania Avenue for the Presidential Inauguration?
November 14, Save the Date — Join the PCJF in Court in Washington, D.C. when we go before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, in ANSWER Coalition v. Basham, et al. The government is imposing viewpoint based discrimination as to who gets to occupy large swaths of public spaces along side Pennsylvania Avenue, "America's Main Street," on Inauguration Day to exercise free speech rights and peacefully communicate to the incoming President as he or she rides in the inaugural parade.
Freedom Plaza and other large areas of quintessential public forum spaces along Pennsylvania Avenue are by regulation re-designated “for the exclusive use of the Presidential Inaugural Committee,” a private partisan advocacy and fundraising organization, which is delegated the discretion to restrict access based on viewpoints supporting government policy. The PCJF is in court fighting for the right of the people to access their public lands along the parade route regardless of viewpoint -- including the right of dissenters to express themselves to whomever is elected.
